KLWS runway 30 obstruction

Postby amahran on Sun Jul 25, 2010 3:01 pm

Hello,

I thought admin might be interested in this, so I thought it would be nice to point this out. The ILS of runway 08 into KLWS is alright, but the only problem is that the glideslope station of that ILS is directly in the way of the visual approach to runway 30, which is not there in reality because that obstruction is not listed in airnav.com

This results in a very strict glideslope to follow. One foot below, hit the glideslope station. One foot above, you risk running past the runway's departure end threshold and crashing if you are flying a large jet.

Also, I found an Object of interest down in ESKN.

The Airport's windsock is apparently on runway 34/16

Hey amahran, I've found several airports with the VOR facility either on or right at the edge of the runway. I wished I could remember where all of them were. I guess if we didn't have all of these funny little glitches then FSX would get rather boring. Keeps me flying!!

FSX actually manages to get nearly all of the VOR's in place of their real counterparts. Only exception I know of is Toronto City Center VOR, which happens to not be there. It's the generic placing of the ILS glideslope stations that causes a problem
